I Want a do over!

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 281

June 7, 2016

I want a do over.  While thinking of all the physical issues I have had this year I decided I want a do over of the year. We are almost halfway through the year and I just think I need a do over.

For those of you who are not familiar with a do over it is a chance to go back and redo something. As I thought about my life I have places through the years that I would like to do over.

Ever been there?? Ever said: why did I do that or if I just had not or if I could just go back?

Now we all know that we cannot go backwards in time and erase what happened or what we did. But I have good news! Every day in Jesus is a new beginning.  When we come to Jesus and release our frustrations and situations to Him, He gives us a fresh start, a fresh page on which to write our life.

The night, as a nine year old, that I gave my heart to Jesus is something I have never wanted a do over for.  The giver of life has been with me and guided me and shown me the way when I messed up.

I have been blessed far beyond anything I ever deserve and I know Jesus Loves me. That is the foundation that my life is built on. At almost 72 years old, I look back through the years and can truly say He has been with me all the way.

When I look at the changing world around us and I am filled with the knowledge that many people are building on a foundation that will crumble, I think of an old song my dad used to lead us in. Part of the song “Hold to God’s unchanging hand” goes something like this.

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Hold to God’s unchanging hand,

Build your hopes on things eternal,

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Trust in Him who will not leave you,

Whatsoever years may bring.

If by earthly friends forsaken,

Still more closely to Him cling.

Covet not this world’s vain riches,

That so rapidly decay.

Seek to gain the heavenly treasures,

They will never pass away.

Proverbs 18:24 B (KJV)
and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Psalm 20:7 (KJV)
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

Picture a child with their little hand in the hand of their father. The child is not worried about anything because they are with their father and holding his hand.

If we could just be that trusting and put our hand into the hand of the Creator God and then just relax and follow Him.

But so many times we are like the stubborn child who wants to pull away and do our own thing and that leads to heartache and sorrow.

So in a world out of control I challenge you to hold onto the hand of the one who

knows you best and loves you most.  Hold onto the hand of your greatest encourager and your greatest fan. Hold onto the eternal one and you won’t worry about having do over’s because each day will be a new beginning.

Put your Hand into the Hand of your creator.

Father thank you that I can walk and talk with you. Thank you that Jesus paid the price for our renewed relationship with you, our creator.  We can be renewed and refreshed in you.  Thank you that I am never alone and I am never forsaken. Thank you that I have God the Holy Spirit, living deep within me.  I am loved, accepted and set free to fulfill my destiny.  In Jesus name I pray.  Amen

Hold to His hand!!

Love, Me-Maw
