POWER!!!!!

Many of you reading this today have been effected by hurricane Irma. In our Metro Atlanta area, the storm was not as bad as further south in Georgia and in Florida but many people I know lost power.

As I was considering how blessed we were to keep our power through the rain and high winds I begin to think about all the things we cannot do without power.

If your water comes from a pump in a well no power means no water, which means no showers or baths or even flushing. If your water comes from a county or city then you are blessed to be able to have water but if your hot water heater is electric a shower would be cold.

The food in your refrigerator would spoil without power and there would be no coffee or cooking unless your stove is gas.

The lights would be dark and the plugins would be useless therefore all the battery stuff that has to be charged would eventually run down.

We are a society that has come a long way in convenience and communication but we are a society that is extremely dependent on electricity and technology.

I am sure those who are without power right now totally understand how much we depend on being able to make coffee and run our dishwasher, washer and dryer. I am sure that things look different in the dark than when we can shed light on them.

Why am I going down this road? Because more than we need the electricity of this world in our lives, we need the power that comes from a relationship with the Lord God Almighty.

We need the Power of the Spirit of the Living God leading us and showing us the way. We need to be guided by the sweet presence of Gods Spirit within us.

Acts 26:18 (KJV)
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

What are the parallels?

Without His Power, we are in the dark and cannot see where we are going or what we should do. Just as we light a candle when the power is out, we maybe can get a little light but we cannot see all the junk in the corners or the things that trip us up.

Without His Power, we cannot be fed the truth of the word of God or wash off the dirt and grime picked up from just living in the world.

Without His Power, we cannot effectively live our life to influence the world for good and stamp out evil.

Romans 15:13 (KJV)
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

2 Corinthians 4:7 (KJV)
But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

We cannot be charged up or see the junk that needs to be picked up if we do not have the Light of the Spirit of the Living God guiding us.

Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Just as we do not want to be without Electrical Power we should never want to be without the Spirit of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords guiding us through this journey called life.

I ask you this morning, who is guiding you? Is it chance or intelligence or other people’s opinion? Or is it the Creator of the Universe.

2 Peter 1:3 (KJV)
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

In His presences darkness flees and evil has no power. In His presences and with His guidance we can make decisions that will affect all those around us and the world for good.

Are you walking in the fullness of His Power????
