Do you remember when you were little and was outside with neighborhood kids or at a park or in your room and your Mom or Dad called you and you did not hear them call your name because you were to busy, to distracted, or there was too much noise? Or maybe you had wondered too far away to hear!
Or maybe you remember that with your own children or even experiencing it right now with your children!
When you or your parent finally got the attention of the one you were calling, the answer was and is: “I did not hear you”!
This is even true of adults with each other!
It is not that the person trying to get another’s attention did not call, it is that their call was not heard!! The one being called was not in a position to hear!!
Next Sunday is the Christians forth of July, if you will. The day our Savior won the Victory over death, hell and the grave! Resurrection Sunday or Easter if you will!
I want to call your attention to something that happened that resurrection morning.
On the first resurrection Sunday some women, including Mary Magdalene, had gone to the tomb to anoint Jesus body only to find the grave empty. They ran and told the disciples. Peter and John went to see and found it just as they said.
They went back to where they were gathered, but Mary stayed. Weeping she turned from the empty grave and someone who she thought was the gardener asked her why she was weeping, and she asked him where Jesus body was.
THEN JESUS SPOKE HER NAME!! He said Mary.
John 20:16 (KJV)
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Notice that she was in a place of seeking. She was willing to do whatever to find the body of Jesus. She was so overcome with weeping that she did not look fully at who she supposed to be the gardener.
But notice that when He spoke her name, she turned herself and saw her Savior!!
She desired to find the body of Jesus and encountered the Risen Savior because she was seeking, in the right place (position), and was in a quiet place!
May I tell you today that the Lord God Almighty is speaking through the Holy Spirit deep within us and He is calling our name. Can we hear Him or are we to busy, to distracted or listening to others or letting so much noise in our lives that we just don’t hear?
If Jesus stood before you today in person and said, I called you name, I wanted to communicate with you, I wanted to tell you what you needed to do, would our reply be “I did not hear you”?
Most of us, in the time when we are to shelter at home, have more time than ever. The Creator of the universe, our Heavenly Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ wants us to position ourselves to hear Him, the Truth, the Way, the Life.
Jesus calls our name. When we position ourselves to hear, to be available, to seek Him, we will encounter the Living Lord and be filled with wisdom, understanding, joy, peace and the knowledge of who He really is.
My challenge to you today is in this time of turmoil and uncertainty, position yourself to hear His Voice! Wait for Him, listen as He calls you name, worship Him, He desires to commune with you.
He calls your name, listen!
One other thought to leave with you. This trouble we are in right now with Covid-19 is nothing compared to what the Bible teaches will be the 7-year tribulation period.
The Bible teaches us that before that begins Jesus will call every name of those who have made Him Savior, and they will be caught up to meet Him in what Christians refer to as the rapture (or taking away) of the church.
While destruction happens here on earth, we who have a personal relation with Jesus will be rejoicing in heaven!
Make sure you have that personal relationship with the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Don’t be left behind! Be ready to hear Him call your name.

Father, thank you for the reality of salvation. Thank you that Jesus lives, and we can live also. I ask that you help each of us to position ourselves to hear you voice. You are calling us to fellowship with you and you see our desire and our motives. Help us to seek you and understand that you will show us each step of what we need to do if we will listen. You Lord God are speaking! May your people hear you call our name! I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Amen
I Love you! MeMaw
