Me-Maw Thoughts
Number 603
November 1, 2022//
This morning I want to encourage you to look at Jesus and not what is going on around you!
I love this quote from Corrie Ten Boom:
“If you look at the world, you’ll be distressed.
If you look within, you’ll be depressed.
But if you look at Christ, you’ll be at rest.”
Do you ever get tired and weary and just watch the days fly by and wonder where they have gone? It seems like yesterday that we were welcoming 2022, and now we are just 2 months from welcoming 2023.
We are seeing unrest and perplexity on every side and have no idea what tomorrow holds.
May I tell you there is rest in Jesus and He holds tomorrow! I choose to trust myself, my life, my family, my church and every day to His protection, Love, and care!
Life on earth is just like vapor. Even if we live to be 100, it flies by. Days and weeks, months, and years pass, and then we leave it all and face eternity.
We are here for an amt of days, for a purpose to lift up Jesus and to show the mixed-up world that there is rest in Jesus Christ our Lord!
What are the people around you seeing, as you navigate this crazy world we live in? May I tell you that your life is affecting others and how you handle each day, and each situation is a witness for or against the peace and power of Jesus Christ in your life!
An old saying is “Don’t sweat the small stuff,” but when you are walking in fellowship with Jesus Christ it is all small stuff!
James 4:14 (KJV)
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
We worry, we fret over daily situations and then a real crisis hits our family or friends and all those daily situations we were so consumed with are nothing!
What is really important is relationships with others and our Lord Jesus! We should consistently follow Peter’s advice in 1 Peter 5:7.
1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
The question is: Do we really believe He cares for us?
Our human minds have a hard time understanding that the God who made each of us, knows us and loves us and will lead us, bear our load, and give us rest!
Why is this so difficult to grasp? I believe it is because we are still in the mind set of “what we do makes us loveable or unlovable, accepted or not accepted”!
Jesus just wants to take our load, give us rest, and fill us with an eternal perspective so that our eyes are on Him, and our relationship with Him!
Have you ever been so uptight and concerned about a situation in yours or your child’s life that you imagined the worst? Maybe it was taking longer to get home or run an errand than you thought. Maybe they were sick, and the worst scenario just stuck in your brain.
May I share with you that the majority of what we worry and fret about never happens!
When our minds begin to go there, we need to follow Matthew 11:28!
Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
The scriptures are true and are given for our use and encouragement. So let us “Cast all our care and come to Jesus and receive His rest”!
God who Loves you with an everlasting Love will never fail you! Receive His rest and peace! You will never find that rest and peace anywhere else!

Father, I come in the matchless name of Jesus! Forgive us when we worry, fret, and forget that life on earth is short, and we need to keep our eyes on you. You tell us if we put you first you will add all other things to our lives! May each person who reads this understand that this life is not the end, and we can spend eternity in your perfect presence. But let us not stop there but understand that we can live in your presence constantly while here on earth and have a confidence that erases trust in anything but you, Father, and your care for us! Forgive us for our earthy thinking and renew our minds and give us an abundance of your spirit! Amen!
Walk in Rest!
Love, MeMaw
