Me-Maw Thoughts

When we invited Jesus into our lives and fellowship with Him and let Him break bread with us our eyes are opened to understand the Word and who Jesus really is.
I want to call your attention to some truths in one of the events Luke writes about after the resurrection of Jesus.
The women had found the tomb empty. Peter and John had checked and found the same thing. The angels had told the women that He was risen but when the disciples were told and even after Peter and John had seen the empty tomb, they were full of doubt.
Luke 24:13-16 (KJV)
13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
Or their eyes were full of other things, and they did not recognize Him? Or maybe God was trying to see how kind they would treat a stranger?
How many times do we fail to see Jesus in our lives. In the eyes of a baby, in the laughter of a toddler, or in the smile of a teenager or in the Love and wisdom of the elderly!
Do we miss seeing Jesus in the hurting person or the homeless man or women or in the store clerk who helps us find what we need?
After Jesus asked them what the were talking about as they walked, CLEOPAS shared with Him concerning the crucifixion and the disappearance of the body of Jesus and that the angel had said He was risen. He also shared that they had trusted He was the messiah Israel was looking.
Notice he said had trusted. They had lost their Trust.
Luke 24:25-27 (KJV)
25 Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26 Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
They were listening to the scriptures, later they realized their heart had burned within them as they heard the truth of the Word, but they still had no idea it was the risen Christ who was teaching them.
We can know the word, but do we know who Jesus is and have we let Him break bread with us?
Luke 24:28-31 (KJV)
28 And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29 But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30 And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
When they approached the village, Jesus acted like He was going further! Did they want Him to stay?
When they asked Him to stay or abide, He did. When we ask Jesus to stay or abide with us and in us, this is what He desires.
At the meal, Jesus took the bread and blessed it, and brake it, and they realized who He was.
May I tell you when we give our lives totally to Jesus and commune with Him, as He communes with us and takes and breaks the bread of life, the truth of what He bought for us, our eyes have the scales fall off and we see Him for who He is!
At that point the Holy Spirit had not come to dwell in believers, so the resurrected Jesus went from them leaving them to tell of their face-to-face encounter.
We can see and experience Jesus 24/7 now as believers in all He has done for us!
May we not just know the Word but know the Jesus of the word and let Him teach us and lead us and guide us!
