“UNDER HIS AND OUR FEET!”

MeMaw Thoughts

Number 704

October 8, 2024///

As I was reading and meditating on the 14th chapter of Matthew this morning one event got into my Spirit and thoughts about that truth is what I want to share today!

Of course I have read this story many times, heard it preached on many times, and have seen all these truths before but it just all hit me fresh this morning.

After Jesus taught and healed, (in spite of being grieved that John the Baptist was dead), because he had compassion on the crowds, He then multiplied the food to meet the need and then sent His disciples away on the boat to go to the other side and he went up on the mountain to pray!

There is a lot in that, but I want to discuss what happened afterward!

I am going to interject my thoughts in among this Matthew portion of Scripture.

Matthew 14:24–31 (KJV)

24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.

***We find ourselves in all kinds of situations where we feel like we are rowing against the winds and waves of problem, hurt, and confusions!

25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.

***Jesus sees us no matter where we are, and He is in the midst of our problems! Since the resurrection, His Spirit of love lives within us! And He is right in the middle of all we are going through!

26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.

***When we are troubled it is easy to see what we think is more trouble and be afraid. But Jesus will speak peace to our Spirit and make the truth real to us that He is with is and we should be of good cheer and not be afraid.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

***Get this in your mind. Peter stepped out in faith and the problem (the wind and waves) were under His feet!

***This just makes my spirit leap to understand that as we obey Jesus and step out into the things He is calling us to do, all the problems that would cause us to fear are under our feet, just as they are under the feet of our Savior.

30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

***Peter looked at the problem instead of Jesus. May I tell you that Jesus wants us to look at Him, not at the problems in our life and the world. If we do that, we can be assured that all things are under our feet because He is with us and all things are under His feet.

***When Peter began to sink, Jesus reached out His hand and caught Him and when we start out with our eyes on Him and then start looking at the problem, Jesus will not let us drown in our sorrow.

***Jesus ask Peter why he doubted but he did not abandon Him.

Matthew 14:32–33 (KJV)

32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

***The final portion of scripture I want you to see is that they got back to the boat! How did Peter get back to the boat? Did he walk on water again, holding Jesus’ hand, or did Jesus take him up in His arms and carry him?

May I tell you that walking with Jesus will assure problems are under our feet. We have the authority over evil, that we can walk on top of all the situations we deal with, either by Faith or leaning on Jesus or in very, very troubled places in His arms as He carries us to safety!

When the wind and waves of life are over our head, they are under His feet and can be under our feet as we walk and trust in Him!

Father, thank you that you will never forsake us and when we step out in faith and then begin to sink you will keep us from falling, and together we will walk on the problems! Let each of us begin to get out of our comfort zone and walk on the problems and situations in life because our eyes and trust are on you! I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth! Amen!

Love, MeMaw!
