Me-Maw Thoughts

Those of you who are around me very often, know that I believe in prayer.
Prayer for common everyday things like parking places or favor with a customer service person or finding what is needed for a particular situation.
I pray for our church, pastors, and the different ministries. I pray for family, friends, and our country and I pray for Gods leading in everything I do.
I pray also for miracles for situations that look hopeless.
Today I want to discuss the different ways we can pray and the power of prayer.
There are three key things to growing in the knowledge and leading of the Holy Spirit to be all we are created to be.
Those are the Bible, Prayer, and Praise!
Our time spent reading and letting the word touch us gives us power in prayer.
When Jesus was tempted His response was “It is written,” finishing with the scripture that dispelled the temptation.
But we must know the word to use it. Using the word as you pray is an amazingly effective way to have a powerful prayer life.
Jesus would many times go away from the crowds to be alone and pray (speaking and listening).
We need that time apart from the business of life to express our needs and listen to instruction from God the Father, through the spirit deep inside us. The urging inside or the peace that comes when you know the direction to take or the answer to your question.
We also need to use the three keys I shared above when we pray. We can share our needs in the form of answers in the scripture praising God for the answer.
An example is: Father, I come in the name of Jesus! I thank and praise you for supplying all my needs according to your riches in Glory and I claim that this day, over the financial needs of my life. You will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings we cannot contain in our life!
That small prayer has the need, the word, and praise and declaration!
We can be very specific in what our needs are but surround them with the word and praise!
The Bible also tells us to pray without ceasing. This is a constant attitude of prayer as we go about each day. We must be aware of God’s presence with us, and we can utter at any time a word of prayer or praise. This can be verbal or in your mind.
You can whisper a prayer for help with your work. Praise for helping you get something done. Praise for a Blessing you just thought of, or prayer for a person that came to mind.
An attitude of prayer and praise keeps us tuned to the prompt deep inside that will guide us and direct us in every way, even to the place to find something we need or have missed placed.
If you have a steady prayer and study time with the Lord Jesus, I encourage you not to let up and I encourage you to expand your praying to include multitudes of things.
If your prayer life is just asking for help in emergency situations, may I suggest that you follow the example Jesus gave us of prayer surrounded with praise and the word.
I challenge you to pray the following scripture several times a day and then you will find yourself praying more and more and those prayers being more powerful.
Matthew 6:9–13 (KJV)
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
You may have heard, “Prayer Changes things” and it does but more importantly is that “Prayer changes us, and we change things”!
You want change in your life and in the USA and the world: Pray, in your private place and without ceasing.
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV)
14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Father, we lift our hearts to you and ask you to help us to pray in private and pray without ceasing! Thank you for knowing each of us and love us and hear our prayer and answer with the answer that is best for us. You see the entire picture of our lives. Thank you that you are God, and we are not, and we surrender all to you! In Jesus name we pray! Amen!
Love, MeMaw!
