“What if this had happened?” or “What if I had done this?”, or “What if I had done this instead of this or this had happened this way instead of the way it did?”
I have spent a lot of wasted time wishing I had done something different, but we cannot go back. There is no back button nor delete on the things that happen in our lives!
I have spent time just thinking about what could have happened if I had done something different. Many of those are regrets but more of them are praise for what the Lord did in the situation!
The praises are protection and delays which resulted in protections and blessings that cannot be measured time after time! The times God turned around what I thought was bad and made it work for my good and His Glory!
I ask you today to think about how much time you may have wasted thinking about how things could have been different!
What if David had gone to battle with his troops instead of walking on the roof top of his house and seeing Bathsheba and desire her so much, he had her husband killed?
What if David as a young boy decided the Giant was too big and did not fight and the Philistines won?
What if Mary said no way or Joseph refused to obey?
What if you took a different route to work and found yourself in a major wreck?
What if you were born in a different place and were educated further than you are?
What if you had taken the time to tell that person who is now with Jesus how much you Love them?
What if your conversation with someone had taken a different turn?
I could continue but the point is the past is the past! The enemy of all that is good wants to prompt you to live in the “WHAT IF?”, world.
Dreaming of the future with a vision for what God wants is moving forward! Walking is the “What If?” world of the past is being stuck!
The Apostle Paul was probably tempted to regret with “What if I had not persecuted believers but listened to them?”
Or “Why was I so against Christians and Jesus Christ?”
But instead, Paul gave us the key to going forward instead of living in “What If?” world!
Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13–14 (TPT) I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. 14 I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.
The Apostle Paul wrote much of the New Testament! He planted churches and ministered mainly to the non-Jews!
This would not have been possible if he had lived in past regrets and “What Ifs?”
The apostle Peter also chose to go forward not dwelling on the fact that he had denied Jesus three times and decided to go back to fishing. Bur through God’s recommissioning Peter was a strong warrior and soul winner!
What about you? Are you going forward or looking backward? Are you looking ahead to the future God has for you or looking in the review mirror at what was before?
We cannot go back. Come to God sincerely and declare you receive forgiveness if you did something that needed forgiveness and declare you are laying all regrets and “What If’s” aside and will walk forward into the future God has for you!
Let us not let the enemy rob us of our future by accepting his invitation to stay in the “What If?” regret zone!
I declare each one who reads this in going forward as mighty sons and daughters of the most high God!

Father, forgive me when I let regrets crowd my mind and hinder my forward march toward your high calling for me! Let each one who reads this be aware of the “What If’s?” of the enemy! May we all go forward to the goal of being like Jesus! Amen!
