Me-Maw Thoughts
Number 778

As I was driving the other day, I was staying right at the speed limit but really, because it was daytime, clear, and there was no traffic where I was, I really wanted to go a little faster. However, I try to stay at or under the speed limit but sometimes I find I am not heeding the signs!
Why do we break the law? Those are limits not suggestions, they are laws and breaking them can result in a ticked and fine!
We find ourselves speeding because we are distracted or our mind is on something unrelated to driving and then find we are breaking the law. Or we are in a hurry and think we can just push it and go faster and pray we do not get stopped. Perhaps we just think the laws do not apply to us and they are just to make us miserable!
I think one of the main reasons is that we decide since everybody does it, we can too!
I know each of us have been on a busy interstate and when going the 60 or 70 posted speed limit, cars, and trucks and even 18 wheelers have zipped by like we are standing still. I find most of the cars are speeding by me when I am within the limits!
My Daddy used to tell us girls when the “everybody is” phrase would come out of our mouths: “If everybody jumped off of a cliff, would you”!
Today I ask you this! Because the culture around us has caused many to ignore Gods commands and directions, will you?
The speed limits on our roads are for our safety and the safety of others. The directions in the Bible are for our salvation and then for our best life, and we should be living and walking in the attitudes and attributes that Jesus walked!
Many Christians find themselves doing things that do not honor God and having attitudes that are not Christ like because everybody around them is doing these things and acting this way.
We sometimes let our guard down and find ourselves pulled into complaining and gossiping about others or situations. We get pulled into going somewhere or watching something that tears down our faith and trust in God.
Or maybe we are just hurrying through each day and let our dedication to our Lord grow cold and find ourselves becoming more like the culture we live in rather than like Jesus!
Why? When those who have received Jesus as Savior understand that God’s way is best. His word is to teach us and show us the way to the best life focusing on eternal values.
The verse that says Faith comes by hearing the word with the mind set to follow it means just that. When we neglect to read and study the word, we set ourselves up for lack of faith.
Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Where the Bible says in His presence is fullness of joy is true and we find ourselves lacking joy in our days when we neglect spending at least a little time in His presence each day.
Psalm 16:11 (KJV) Thou wilt shew me the path of life: In thy presence is fulness of joy;
The Bible has much to say about prayer, asking and receiving, honoring God with our words and praising and thanking Him for His Blessings!
When we truly turn our hearts toward our Savior and do our best, we will live our best life. We may get distracted for a moment, but we will realize it and get back into the rhythms of walking in Love, Joy, Peace, Thanksgiving, and Praise!
I encourage you not to let the cares of this world, bury schedules, and the deceitfulness of success and riches rob you of walking in the best life possible that was paid for by Jesus Christ of Nazareth!
Know the word and let the Holy Spirit guide you and show you the right way every day of your life!
Follow God’s laws and do not push the limits!

Father, we humans are such mysterious people. We know the way to true joy and peace and yet we let circumstances or just life itself keep us from the things that will show us the right path and bless and lead us in every way. Fill each of us with wisdom to make the right choices and stand strong for good in the face of evil. Your Grace is sufficient and your Love is free and unconditional but let us never forget you give us direction in your word for a reason! We praise you Lord for who you are and who you are in each of us! Amen!
Love to each of you! Amen!
