Me-Maw Thoughts
Number 785
April 28, 2026///
The thought I want to share with you this morning is when we are set free, forgiven, delivered of our past failures, or habits, or any other thing by the Lord God Almighty do we truly let it go or do we keep letting it discourage or bother us and keep us from doing our best for Jesus with power?
I have a habit of rethinking things I have said or done and deciding I could have done it better or differently!
May I point out two places in the first three chapters of Acts where Peter demonstrates true freedom from the past!
Before the crucifixion Peter had denied the Lord three times because of fear. After the resurrection Jesus had recommissioned him as a leader.
Peter could walk in that recommission or keep staying in the failure of denial!
We then find in Acts two Peter and others are filled with the Holy Spirit and Peter preached to the crowds accusing them of denying Jesus Christ as Messiah! He forgot his denial! It was forgiven!
In Acts three we find Peter and John going to the temple to pray and in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, they declared a man lame from his mother’s womb, whole!
As a crowd gathered because of this miracle, Peter once again preached reminding them that they had denied the Holy One! Once again, he forgot his denial! It was forgiven!
What about you and me? Do we walk in the victory of Gods unconditional Love and Forgiveness and restoration, and power or do we listen to the voices of our past failures?
The enemy of all that is good wants to keep us stuck in our past and not go forward and fulfill the reason we are on this earth!
The apostle Paul did all kinds of persecution of Christians until he was changed and commissioned to Preach the good news of Jesus! As he carried out his reason for living, he had the motto by which we should live!
Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV) 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
Paul was forgiven, changed, and commissioned and he chose to walk in that commissioning and forget all his wrongs and failures!
What about us? Which way do we choose! Do we choose to set our minds on the reason we were created or do we choose to live in regrets and what-ifs! One of the enemies favorite weapons is a what-if mind set. We can always think about how things would be or would have been if we had made different choices!
But we can also renew our thinking by praising God for His forgiveness and Love. Cast down the thoughts of past hurts, failures, and confusions by the weapon of Praise! We are redeemed and set free to live in faith and victory!
I encourage you to join me today in forgetting all those things in the past we would like to do over! Join me in letting go of the what-if mind set and let us walk toward the goal of being like Jesus: full of Faith, Victory, Power, and Authority!
When we walk in what we are commissioned to do we are filled with Joy and the Joy of the Lord is our Strength!
We can change our world as we seek first God’s Kingdom and leave the past failures, mistakes, and wrong choices behind!
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Father, in Jesus’ name I come! I praise you that we are new creations in you and we can let go of the past that that the enemy keeps bringing up. May we allow your care and love to guide us to walk in the power of you forgiveness and set our mind on the eternal and the reason we are living! Thank you for loving us unconditionally but you love us too much to leave us that way! Mold us into a vessel to be used in your kingdom! Amen!
Love, MeMaw!
