I Know you are probably familiar with the story in Genesis of Joseph who was the son of Jacob who was Abraham’s grandson!
We usually talk about the trouble Joseph had and his journey from home to Egypt as a slave, to prison and then to the Palace and second only to the Pharaoh!
Today, I want us to look at Joseph’s father, Jacob. Jacob had 12 son’s and was an old man who thought Joseph was dead. He was deceived to believe this.
For 20 years he believed his son Joseph was dead. Joseph was a dreamer and so for this discussion I want you to view Joseph as Jacobs dream and desire. Even though a parent should not have favorites, Joseph was Jacobs favorite.
He now found that his son: his dream, was alive and he and all his son’s and their families were on their way to dwell in Egypt because there would be 5 more years of the famine they had been experiencing.
During the 20 years Jacob believed Joseph was dead he still honored and worshipped God. On the way with all his family he stopped at Beer-Sheba and built and altar and worshipped.
God appeared to Him in the visions of the night assuring Him that He would be a great nation and would indeed see his son Joseph.
Jacob had a dream son he thought was dead for 20 years!
DO you have a dream that you believe has been dead a long time?
Let us look at what has happened during the 20 years. God was working on both sides of the dream! He was bringing the answer to the dream to maturity as Joseph went through the process of betrayal and victory!
Jacob had no hope of ever seeing Joseph again, but God was working all things out!
When we give up and believe our dreams, or desires, or visions are dead God is still working all thing for our good and His Glory.
Buying into the lies and deception that the dream is dead is what the enemy wants!
Jacob was bent beneath the load of grief and then found out his son was alive. I think he probably was wrestling with belief and unbelief. Was this real? Was he really going to see his dream Joseph stand before him?
Just as God saw Jacobs desire to believe but also experiencing doubt and assured him in the visions that Joseph was truly alive and the promises made to Abraham were still yes and amen, the dream you thought was dead, God is saying is surely alive and He has been getting it ready for you!
Maybe it is you who had to go through a process or maybe circumstances or situations or others that had to go through the process but be assured the dream is still alive and as you rise as Jacob did and walk toward it you will see it come to pass.
When Jacob saw and embraced Joseph, he was ready to die, but he lived 17 more years. We will see our dream come to pass but that does not mean God does not have more dreams and visions.
Trust God’s timing, pray and worship, and move toward the God given dreams, desires, and visions, within you!
What layers and layers of teaching are in the story of Joseph, but I pray you have begun to understand that our dreams and visions are never too old, never too big, and we are never out of reach of them. Just trust and obey and let God work all things together for our good and His Glory!
Meditate on the visions and dreams God has placed in you and allow the Holy Spirit to stir them up! Rest in the promise that He can and He will!!!
Our God is alive and so are out dreams!

Father, thank you that just as our prayers never die our dreams never die. You are working on us and on all the dreams, visions, and desires that you have placed in us. May we never give in to the deception of satan that tells us they are gone. We lay our hearts before you and receive the assurance you give that with you nothing is impossible! I ask this in Jesus’ name! Amen!
Love, MeMaw!
