I love the Lord God Almighty with my whole heart! I pray that you do too.  We all know that the Lord God Almighty loves us with a love that cannot be explained or duplicated and cares about all that goes on in our lives more than we can comprehend.

But my question this morning is: Is my Lord satisfied with me?  Is He satisfied with my spiritual growth and my daily walk in this world?

Even though we love our children no matter what they do, we may not always be satisfied with the choices they make or the paths they walk.

As adults we feel that we can see more clearly and understand more fully what paths the younger generations should take.  Sometimes we are right and sometimes we may miss it but God always knows the path we should take and will never lead us wrong if we will truly follow Him.

Just as everything we accomplish in life depends on our decisions, pleasing our Lord Jesus is the most important decision we can possibly make after receiving Jesus as our Savior.

Romans 6:13 (KJV)
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

We need to be more concerned with obeying God in all we do than in pleasing others.

Isaiah 26:3-4 (KJV)
3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
4 Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

We will in turn receive the Peace and Strength we need for each day.

Psalm 92:12-13 (KJV)
12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.

We need to be planted in fellowship with others and draw strength from that.

James 4:8 (AMP)
8 Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].

So how does this happen. Just as our children must grow into maturity we also must grow daily by reading and meditating on the word.  Each of us should Love those around us and we can only do that through letting Jesus Love through us.

But then individually God has different plans for us and we can only know those plans as we pray and listen to the still small voice deep inside of us.  To know which direction to take we must listen to the one who created us with the desires and dreams that we are destined for.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV)
18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

I’m satisfied with God’s redemption plan and His Love for me but is My God satisfied with me? He is not looking for perfection. He is looking for growth and a true desire to please Him.

Are you closer to God this month than you were last month?  Is He satisfied with you growth?

It has been said: God Loves us like we are but He Loves us to much to leave us there!

Mold me into a vessel of honor and use me for your Glory.  Let my obedience to you affect the world I live in and the lives I touch.  May my words, actions and deeds portray the incredible Love that sent Jesus to the cross!  I ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.  Amen

God Bless each of you as you walk and grow in your Faith.

Keep Climbing

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 299

“Sometimes it takes a mountain.”

This is the name of a song the Gaither Vocal Band sing. This morning I want to approach that statement from a different perspective than the song actually does.

Have you ever gone hiking? I personally am not a camper or a hiker but I have climbed “Stone Mountain” and driven to the top of other mountains.

For those of you from other parts of the country: Stone Mountain is a mountain in Georgia that is pure Stone.  The last time many years ago that I attempted to climb it I only made it half-way up.

The climb up starts off easy and becomes harder as you climb. At places it is almost a crawl.  HOWEVER….when you make it to the top you can see for miles and miles in every direction.  Cars, houses and businesses look small and insignificant.

Sometimes in our lives we feel like we are climbing a mountain that is so big and so hard to climb that we are not sure if we will make it.  Maybe you feel like that today. Maybe your mountain looks impossible and you just want to sit down and give up.

Don’t Stop!!! Keep climbing!!! Keep going!!!

I have good news for you this morning.  You are not alone. The God who created you and who knows you best and loves you most promised to never leave you nor forsake you.  He says to you this morning:

Hebrews 13:5B (KJV)
for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Matthew 28:20B (KJV)
and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.

You are never alone.  Keep moving: keep climbing up the mountain and you will reach the top. No matter what form your particular mountain is (ministry, sickness, family problems, financial or business) you will get to the top if you will persevere and hold to the hand of the one who will never let you fall.

Then the view from the top will be amazing. You will be able to see where you came from and what you overcame.  As you gaze, through the eyes of Jesus, on the problems below you will see how small and insignificant they really are. They are but a blip on the radar of our life as we view them from the perspective of the mountain top.  The view is vastly different after you have made the climb.

The song I mentioned above says sometimes it takes a mountain to get our attention but I say to you this morning that sometimes it takes a mountain to let us enjoy the view of life from the eyes of the creator God.

Sometimes the mountain is a gateway to the view of life that God wants us to have. As His children we have everything we need to live victorious and abundant lives. As His children every problem is small and is in the Fathers Hands!

Luke 12:6-7 (KJV)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?
7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

KEEP CLIMBING!

Father, I come to you in Jesus Name and thank you that I am valuable to you. Thank you that your eyes are watching me and that you are my strength and you give me my very breath. I pray for those who read these thoughts that they will grasp how much you love them. I pray that they will not give up but will continue to climb whatever mountain they are facing.  Father thank you that from the top: when we have persevered: we will see with a different perspective. Thank you for invading each person who reads this with the certainty of your love. Amen

Have an amazing week!

God’s Glory

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 298

October 4, 2016

As we travel this journey called life our days are filled with different things. Our days are filled with responsibilities of family, church, school, jobs.  Our days are filled with pursuing our dreams and desires and pursuing success and happiness.

These responsibilities and pursuits take many different forms and require many levels of commitment.  In spite of all our dreams and desires we still must wash clothes, help children with homework, see that our families are fed and drive here and there to carry out the daily task. The list goes on and on.  The things we might term mundane or just necessary.

In Psalm 72:19 the Psalmist declared that the

Whole Earth Be Filled With God’s Glory!!

Psalm 72:19 (KJV)
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.

May I tell you this morning that the Whole Earth includes everywhere you are and everywhere you will be today and every day of your life.  It includes everything you do and ever will do and it includes your very self.

The Glory of the Lord God Almighty clears every path and makes the crooked places straight and brings Peace and Joy.

So the declaration and prayer of the Psalmist should also be our declaration and prayer.

“Lord God Almighty, may the whole earth be filled with your Glory, starting with me and my family and my surroundings.”

If the life of each born again believer is filled with His Glory, it will begin to filter out to our work, schools, shopping and play areas.

If you as a child of The Creator God….The Lord God Almighty, will begin to pray that His Glory Cover every area of your life (or just pray Psalm 72:19 every day), think of the difference we will begin to see in our homes, our families, our churches, our schools, our own attitudes, and our dreams and desires.

The world we live in is in desperate need of the Glory of the Lord.  Evil is rampant and anything goes.  Our children are subjected to evil and violence that should never be.  The Glory of the Lord God Almighty through the Power and freedom that Jesus purchased for us on the Cross is the only answer.

God desires that His Glory Cover the earth and it is up to us…..His Children to begin to declare that and to begin to take back territory from the devil.

I challenge you to begin to pray that God’s Glory cover your family and home and wherever you go and then continue to declare God’s Glory cover our Nation and then all the Nations of the world.

Let us quit praying wimpy, whinny, prayers and rise up as children of the King and declare the Glory of God covers the Whole…entire…amazing earth.

Psalm 2:8 (AMP)
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession.

What are the nations you are declaring God’s Glory covering!

____________________________________________________________

Father, thank you that we can bring your Glory to all who are around us and every place we walk.  I decree and declare today that the United States is filled with your Glory.  I decree and declare that Israel and the surrounding Egypt and Jordan are filled with you Glory.  I decree and declare that my family and my church are filled with you Glory.  I decree and declare that Your Glory covers the earth.  Amen

God Bless Each of you!

Heaven

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 297

September 27, 2016

My thought this morning: Heaven is a real place for real people.

Heaven is not a fairytale or a made up place but is a place of perfect peace, rest and love.  We have not seen perfection and beauty such as heaven holds.

Think of a place of no death, no pain, no sickness, no senseless shootings, no riots, no worry, and no stress.  That is heaven.

But the thing that really makes heaven real is that we will see Jesus face to face. We will look on the one who loved us enough to take on all the wrong we have ever done or will do and be the ultimate sacrifice.

The crown or crowns that we are given will be laid at the feet of Jesus. As we lay our crowns down as worship to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, we will fully understand the sacrifice He was for us.

1 John 3:2 (KJV)
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

When a loved one leaves this world, I believe the Bible teaches that we are instantly with the Lord.   Paul tells us in Corinthians that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:7-9 (KJV)
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

Yesterday was the birthday of my sister Betty who was closest to me in age. I am the youngest of six girls. As the years have gone by first my parents and then my sisters one by one have laid down this house of clay and looked into the face of Jesus.

A little over two years ago Betty went from being confined to a body racked with pain and failure to function correctly, to a place of no pain.

As I was considering how much I miss my parents and my sisters, I began to wonder if I had told them how much I loved and appreciated them enough. The fun, the communion, the camaraderie: I miss all of that.

The reason I am telling you this is that I urge you to tell those you Love and appreciate how much they mean to you.  A hug, a call, a card: each of these can express how much a person means in your life. But more than anything pray for those who are closest to you that they will receive Gods best for themselves.

To many times we let hurt feelings or wrong things done to us keep us from letting people know how much they mean in our lives.  Don’t wait until someone is gone to realize how much they mean to you.  Think about the people in your life who mean the most to you and tell them.

The wonderful message I want you to get today is that heaven is real and we will be with those who have put their trust in Jesus once again.  We are to know and understand that this life is but a vapor and we are to do all we can to point those all around us to the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are created to praise, worship and serve the Lord God Almighty.  We are to spread the GOOD NEWS and we are to Love one another. We are to live life to its fullest and we are to be obedient to the vision.

And then when it is our time to lay down this house of clay, we will see Him face to face.

Live life abundantly and let offenses go and show love.

1 John 4:7 (KJV)
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

________________________

Father God, in Jesus name I come to you.  I thank you for the promise of a reunion in heaven. I thank you for the promise of a face to face encounter with the one who died for the whole world.  May we by our lives show the Love of God to all we meet. May we let the hurt feelings and offenses go and walk in Love and Forgiveness. Amen

Walk in Love….share Love!

Where Help Comes From

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 296

September 20, 2016

 Psalm 121:1-2 (KJV)
1I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
2  My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

As I sit here on the balcony of the place we are staying in the mountains for a few days, I am looking at an incredible view of Almighty God’s creation.  The mountains tops are going up and down to form tops that are pointing to the heavens.

I think they are praising the Creator God. Just as the trees point upward and the birds fly high, the mountains are proclaiming that the Creator God, the God of the universe is waiting to help us at every juncture of life.

The verse says it all.  I will lift up my head: is your head hung low in pain or shame or just exhaustion this morning?  Lift up your head to the hills from which cometh your help. Lift up your head to the God who made it all and knows and loves you.

As I look out at the Smoky Mountains I am reminded that the things of life are not as they seem but God knows the real truth.  The Smokies indeed look Blue as they are known for. It reminds me of the child who kept wanting to go to the Blue Mountains. However of coarse when they got there they were not Blue.

How many times do we dread what is going to happen, or a situation only to find out when it happens or we encounter the situations, they are not the same as what we thought?

When we allow the God of the all that is and was created to be, in control of our lives we can rest assured that whatever we face, whatever the situation He is our help and strength.

My I tell you this morning that your help comes from the Lord God Almighty and if you will lift up your head He is your help.

Through the work that Jesus Christ did on the cross we have a relationship to the Creator God, Father God, Abba Father!!

Where do you look for for help? I am so full of greatfulness this morning that my life is in Gods hands.

Why should I worry or fret.  God knows my name, address, phone number and where I am right now.  He knows my desires and dreams and He holds today, tomorrow and next week in His Mighty Hands.

These mountains are a reminder of where my help come from.

Where does your help come from?

Father, I come to you in Jesus name. Thank you for the beauty that I am viewing right now.  Thank you that you are my help, my strength and my refuge.  You are my stronghold. You are the place I can run to.  May each person who reads this Lift up their heads and know your Peace and Love no matter what else is happening.  Amen

I Love and desire God’s best for each of you.

No Bugs

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 295

September 13, 2016

I do not like bugs of any kind, form or fashion.  We pay a fee to have our house treated for insects, etc.

Well????? Sunday morning as I was getting out of the shower behold!!!! Crawling across the bathroom floor was the largest bug I had ever seen. To use a phrase from the Christmas movie Elf…it was gynormous.

I then proceeded to watch this bug as I got toilet paper to catch it with.  When I would get close the bug would run to another wall under the edge of the counter or something and then be very still.

What that amazing little bug did not realize was that from my position high above I could see everywhere it went. It was never out of my sight.  My eyes were seeing all the places it was running to and hiding at.

Yes I got the bug. But at the time I was faithfully watching to see where it was going the Holy Spirit impressed deep within me that just as I was watching the bug. He is constantly watching us.  But as opposite to what I was trying to do the Father is watching us to help us and send all different kinds of angels to minister to us.

Absorb these scriptures: Think about them: Let them get into your Spirit…the life within you.

Psalm 139:7-10 (KJV)
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

Psalm 33:18 (KJV)
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

2 Chronicles 16:9 A (KJV)
9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth,

I have good news this morning.  We are not alone in this journey of life. The eyes of the creator God is always on us and always watching us. His help is for our asking. He cares about every little thing in our life.  He desires for us to have Joy….Joy does not depend on circumstances.  Joy depends on who we know we are.

Are you a child of almighty God through Jesus Christ?  Do you realize that the eyes of the Lord God Almighty are on you and the host of heaven stand ready to help. All we have to do is ask and believe.

Whisper the name of Jesus and all of heaven stands at attention.

Remember that we are never alone.  All around us people may forsake us, but God has His eyes on us.  Call on Him.  Speak the name of Jesus.

We do not have to do life by our self.  We do not have to make decisions alone. We have a Heavenly Father who sees us and Loves us without measure.

An old song says it best. Here is part of it:

“WHY SHOULD I BE DISCOURAGED?

WHY SHOULD THE SHADOWS FALL?

WHY SHOULD MY HEART BE LONELY,…….

JESUS IS MY FORTRESS, A MIGHTY GOD IS HE,

HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW AND I KNOW HE WATCHES ME!!!”

Father in Jesus name I come to you.  How foolish we are when we depend on our own abilities to run this race called life.  You see us and you are ready, able, and willing to step in whenever we call on you.  Forgive us our failures and faults Lord God Almighty and fill us with the security that comes from leaning on your everlasting arms. Amen

Have a wonderful week!

His Love Never Quits!

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 294

Psalm 136:1-9 (KJV)
1 O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 O give thanks unto the God of gods: for his mercy endureth for ever.
3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.
4 To him who alone doeth great wonders: for his mercy endureth for ever.
5 To him that by wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth for ever.
6 To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: for his mercy endureth for ever.
7 To him that made great lights: for his mercy endureth for ever:
8 The sun to rule by day: for his mercy endureth for ever:
9 The moon and stars to rule by night: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psalm 136:1-9 (MSG)
1 Thank GOD! He deserves your thanks. His love never quits.
2 Thank the God of all gods, His love never quits.
3 Thank the Lord of all lords. His love never quits.
4 Thank the miracle-working God, His love never quits.
5 The God whose skill formed the cosmos, His love never quits.
6 The God who laid out earth on ocean foundations, His love never quits.
7 The God who filled the skies with light, His love never quits.
8 The sun to watch over the day, His love never quits.
9 Moon and stars as guardians of the night, His love never quits.

Mercy is Love and His Love endures or never quits.  This 136 Psalm goes on in the next 16 verses expressing the things God had done for Israel ending each verse with “His mercy or love never quits.”  The final verse says:

Psalm 136:26 (KJV)
26 O give thanks unto the God of heaven: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Psalm 136:26 (MSG)
26 Thank God, who did it all! His love never quits.

This morning as my heart overflows with thanks and gratefulness for who God is and all His Blessings I want to paraphrase the middle 16 verses with the things we should praise Him for ending each with “His Love Never Quits”.

Psalm 136:10-25 (MeMaw Version)
10 The God who gave us a way to Him by Jesus death on the Cross, His love never quits.
11 And rescued us from a life of destruction, His love never quits.
12 Took our lives in his powerful hand, His love never quits.
13 Kept us from and in sickness and problems, His love never quits.
14 Led us into His perfect will, His love never quits.
15 Dumps all our mistakes and blunders in the sea of forgetfulness, His love never quits.
16 The God who Blessed us with family: both spiritual and physical, His love never quits.
17 Is Smashing the enemies’ kingdom right and left, His love never quits.
18 Gives us strength for each day, His love never quits.
19 Provides everything we need, His love never quits.
20 Blesses us with Favor with all we meet, His love never quits.
21 Uses us to encourage others, His love never quits.
22 Heals the deepest hurts in us. His love never quits.
23 Saves and keeps our children, His love never quits.
24 He gives us Praise for heaviness, His love never quits.
25 Takes care of each of us in time of need. His love never quits.

I end with:
26 Thank God, who does it all! Nothing is too hard for Him! His love never quits.

 _______________________________________________________________

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus, I come to you.  I am so amazed that your Love Never Quits. Your Mercy Endures forever.  I sit in your presence and bask in your Love and thank you that you know me best and love me most.  There is no pretense in our relationship. I receive all the good and all the Love you have for me.  I am the apple of your eye and you sing over me with unequaled Love and Care.  My Father, creator of the universe, my deep desire is for all who read this to have an amazing wonderful relationship with you.  I desire each person realize that in spite of what the enemy has done to try to destroy their lives, joy, and peace, you are there…..your Love endures…..you Love us in spite of us.  You created us and your eyes are always on us and when we allow it you are in control of our lives.  Amen

Go forth in the Blessings of God!!

He Will Be There!

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 293

August 30, 2016

We have a Mother and Grandmother in our church whose Father passed away this past Sunday Morning.  Even though he had been very ill that does not ease the grieving of losing a loved one.

This morning as I was praying for God’s strength on this precious family my thoughts went to my own dad who has been gone now for 49 years this month.

My dad was an amazing man of God who loved his family and his congregation.  He had a great sense of humor and would laugh heartily at himself.

One of my memories is when, as a little girl, if I stumbled and fell or tripped and fell my dad would say: “come here and I will pick you up”. Of course I would laugh and the world would be right.

This morning I want to apply that to our spiritual life.  When we stumble; falter; make wrong choices; the creator of the universe, our Heavenly Father says: “Come to me and I will pick you up”.  Or, “come to me and I will lift your burden”. Or “come into the shadow of the most high”.

Matthew 11:28 (KJV)
28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 91:1-2 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

But just as my dad would do, if we are unable to take a step toward God, if we are so hurt, or confused, or injured that we cannot run to Him, all we have to do is call His name.  He will come to us.

When we run to Him in our wounded spirit and just call on His name, He is there.

There are some lyrics from a secular song that says what God says to us:

I’ll be there with a love so strong,
I’ll be your strength,
You know I’ll keep holdin’ on.

I’ll reach out my hand to you
I’ll have faith in all you do.
Just call my name and I’ll be there.

The world and no one in it can make that promise. We do not know what today or tomorrow holds.  But the Lord God Almighty can say with pure Love and Truth:

“I will be there, just call on me, I will be there”.

Do you need the Lord God Almighty to take away the hurt so deep you cannot even express it?  Do you need the Lord God Almighty to calm the fears and anxieties? Do you need someone to understand and give you Peace and Calmness?

Just call on the Lord God Almighty and He will be there!

Father, in Jesus name I come to you. I release to you the deepest desires and confusions of my heart. Thank you that you know the deepest depths of my being. You know me and love me and created me in your image.  I decree and declare that all who read this will understand how much you love them.  I decree and declare that they will know you will be there.  Amen

Go with the one who will never leave you!! He will be there!!

Imagine the Possible!

Me-Maw Thoughts

Number 292

August 23, 2016

ARE YOU SEEING THE POSSIBLE OR THE IMPOSSIBLE?

Matthew 19:26 (KJV)
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Mark 5:36 (KJV)
36 As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.

Genesis 18:14A (KJV)
14 Is anything too hard for the LORD?

Back in the day we would sing a song that went like this:

“GOT ANY RIVERS, YOU THINK ARE UNCROSSABLE?

GOT ANY MOUNTAINS, YOU CAN’T TUNNEL THROUGH?

GOD SPECIALIZES IN THINGS THOUGHT IMPOSSIBLE!

HE’LL DO FOR YOU WHAT NO OTHER POWER CAN DO!”

I ask you to think about that for a moment.  We serve a God who can do anything. We serve a God that loves us and desires to Bless us.  We serve a God who sees us struggling in life and desires to do the impossible but there is a blockage.

It may be fear. It may be unforgiveness. It may be unbelief. It may be that we desire things that are to our destruction.

We need to know our God so well that we let go of fear, unforgivenss and unbelief and put our hand in His hand, knowing he knows best and nothing is impossible with Him.

How can we believe the impossible? By understanding the nature of the creator of the universe and by realizing the Love for each of us that sent Jesus to the Cross. By realizing that we are not bound to this worlds system but have the greater one in us.

I admonish each of us today, to release the struggle and snuggle up to the one who really cares and can help.

Our minds get so bound up in the practical and the natural that we cannot let go and believe the impossible.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

This tells me fear, worry or stress is never of God but is the enemy’s way to stop the impossible.

So today I ask you: What do you need God to do that looks impossible?

I challenge you to speak out that impossible thing, thanking God for doing it. Continue to speak out that impossible thing until you really know deep inside you that it is happening. Praise Him for the impossible as you trust He is working all things for your good.

_______________________________________

Father God, how majestic is your name in all the earth.  I release to you this morning my tendency to look at the circumstances.  I decree and declare that nothing is impossible.  You are a God of the incredible POSSIBLE! I trust in your nature and I trust in your hand. Thank you for doing exceeding, abundant, above all I can even imagine.  I decree and declare your Glory cover the earth.  I decree and declare this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Amen

Imagine the impossible!

The Word:Life!

2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV)
14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (MSG)
14 And I got it, thank God! In the Messiah, in Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. Through us, he brings knowledge of Christ. Everywhere we go, people breathe in the exquisite fragrance.

In many parts of the world people are so hungry for God’s written word, the Bible that they risk death to obtain even a few pages.  Yet here in the United States of America the Bible, the bestselling book of all times, is also probably the top book that sits unread.

Why? I’m not sure. Maybe a lack of understanding its power or afraid we will not understand it, or even thinking it is not relevant to today’s world.  And yet within the pages are life given words, bondage breaking words and even miracle working words.

Even those who claim to be Christians and attend church, etc, etc, neglect the word of the living God.  Life is in the Word.  We must know the Bible and ask God for understanding of what we read.

What this tells me is that as a Christian, a child of the creator of the universe, “We are the only Bible some people read!”

Therefore as stated in the scripture at the beginning of this we are to be the expression of God’s Word in this world.  We are to be the Bible in Action.  We are to let people breathe in the knowledge of Christ as they encounter us.

Wow! What a responsibility. It may seem a daunting task, but it really is not.  All we need to do is know the word. Spend time in reading and fellowshipping with the author of the book and we will be so full of the Word that our lives just naturally portray the faithfulness and power of the Word…….the life giving Word.

According to today’s scripture people should know and understand God’s Love and care for them, just because we are around them.  We should be so full of the Love and Power of God that the atmosphere of a room or store or building changes just because we walk into it.

Pastor Rick tells us often that we are to be thermostats not thermometers.  A thermometer measures the temperature of a room but a thermostat sets the temperature.

We need to set the atmosphere around us. We need to portray so fully the Word of the Living God that people will want to know what we have, and they will find the giver of life:  Jesus the Christ…the Son of the Living God.

Is the Bible that powerful? Absolutely!!!

Just two verses: John 3:16 & 17 Is powerful enough to save the entire human race.

John 3:16-17 (KJV)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Maybe you are one of those who Love Jesus but just cannot seem to get into the Bible.  I suggest you start with the Gospel of John: the fourth book in the New Testament.  Then before beginning sincerely ask Father God, through the name of Jesus to open your understanding and let you read with your Spiritual eyes wide open. Don’t just do it one time: do it every day and you will see things begin to change.

Father, in Jesus name I come to you. You gave us the guide book, the book of life. I ask that we would become so infused with your words that we are breaths of life wherever we go.  Forgive us when we forget that we walk in victory and we are to be the thermostat.  Amen

Don’t wait: begin today to know HIS WORD!

Love, MeMaw
