“GOD-WINK!”

Me-Maw Thoughts

Last night I watched a Halmark Christmas Movie that was a God-Wink movie!

I was thinking about that phrase this morning.

A God-Wink is something unusual, miraculous, surprising. Some may call it a coincidence or luck when it is a God-Wink.

You receive an unexpected gift or meet someone that you find a connection to! A better job opens when you have just been laid off! You are delayed from leaving home or a place and find it was a blessing in disguise!

A God-Wink can be a burst of joy as you look at the beauty of a sunrise or sunset! It can be found in the laughter of child or the enthusiasm of a teen!

A God-Wink can be the praises flowing forth from deep within as you feel the Saviors touch or a call from a friend who just wanted to say hi! It may be the beauty of a rose or the first flower blooms of spring!

But it is the unexpected unexplainable happenings in our life!

Do you like surprises? No one likes negative surprises, but we all enjoy good surprises that lift us up and guide our lives to greater things and satisfaction!

A God-Wink!

Have you ever, or have you ever seen a husband and wife or two people who were closely connected but were apart at a large gathering? You will see them at times, look across the room, catch the eye of the other and wink!

They are saying: “I am here, I see you, I care about you, I Love you, you are important to me, I am watching you,” or any of a million positive statements! This will produce warmth and a feeling of safety in the person being winked at!

Webster’s Dictionary describes a wink as “A hint or sign given by winking!”

May I tell you a God-Wink tells us we are loved and seen and cared for by one greater than any on earth! In addition to taking care of stars, sun, moon and planets, God sees us and works on our behalf even when we do not see change, and then surprises us with a wink that says I am here, I am taking care of this!

Whether it is by an incident or a feeling or a word from the mouth of another, God is saying, “I see you, I love you, you are mine”!

What an amazing truth that if we will be aware of what happens to us and all around us, we can probably see God-Winks every day in our lives.

As I look back at my life, I see God-Winks at every turn! Things that worked out in spite of my actions and the surprises of joy and peace and power flooding my inside at the most unexpected moments!

Many years ago, a little boy at Joshua’s Place was going to testify before he was baptized and he said it in one sentence! He said: “GOD LOVES YOU! HE REALLY DOES”!!

That truth is a serious God-Wink!

We can see God-Winks all around us if we are open to the reality of them. But we can also be used to show someone else a God-Wink when we open our heart to take the impressions Christ places within us and obey. It may be a smile in the checkout line or a conversation with someone seated next to you that you start on common ground and see where God leads!

It may be helping someone walk to their car or to just speak kindly when you feel your patience growing thin. We need to be mindful that not only are there God-Winks for us that we can see, but we can be an instrument of God-Winks for others

God winks because he loves you and wants you to know He is with you and cares for you more than you can imagine!

Look for God-Winks and be open to showing someone else a God-wink!

Matthew 10:29–31 (KJV)

29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

What joy we find when God winks at us!

Father, thank you for your love and all the little things around us that say; “You are precious in my sight!” Each of us opens our hearts to see the signs all around that your eyes see all and never leave us, and you show us in different ways that you are there! Use us to encourage others by being part of a God- Wink to them! What a wonder! You love us, you really do! Amen!

Love, MeMaw!
